Speech And Language Services
Speech-language pathologists (or "speech therapists") work with your family to improve your child's communication and interaction skills in everyday life. Speech-language therapy involves assessing your child's current skill levels and then establishing goals to work toward that measure real, observable improvements in your child's communication abilities.
Speech therapy sessions at Thrive are provided at our naturalistic therapy centers in a one-on-one format. Speech-language intervention is informed by the way children typically develop communication skills--through play and meaningful social interactions. In our sessions, a child's speech-language pathologist works directly with the child and their family to develop strategies for caregivers to implement during daily life. Parent participation is an important component of services since most of a child's day is spent with caregivers. In some situations, speech therapy sessions are provided with a child's behavior staff present to help ensure that communication strategies can be implemented throughout the week across a variety of environments and with a variety of partners.
