Building Social Skills & Relationships
Social skills are critical for home, school, community and work across the life span. Having the skills to build and maintain relationships are critical when considering the quality of life for the individual and their families.
At Thrive, our Social Skills groups take the abstract concepts around social situations and break them into small, concrete actions that can be mastered. Groups are structured to provide space for each participant to have a voice, to be heard and to work towards the common goal of the group. We consider individual needs and work collaboratively within our team of BCBA's, Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Registered Behavior Technicians to provide an experience where it's easy to connect and build relationships.
Participating in social skills group activities and building relationships can boost self esteem and foster self-awareness. A safe place to make mistakes and to learn from them. To move forward with familiar people and allow relationships to form over common interest or likes and to discover who they are as individuals in the context of groups.
